The big plus: the pirate theme, definitely great for kids. They're well looked after: their food arrives quickly (before the adults).
However, for adults:
- it's outrageously expensive: 25 euros for 3 pieces of pork pluma with fries and salad is highway robbery for that portion size. The fries are unlimited and homemade, but you get dirty looks when you ask for more (and you will, given the small portion!). They're very good, but not worth 25 euros.
The wait between courses is interminable, even though the restaurant was empty.
Luckily, one waitress redeemed her (rather unfriendly) colleague with her kindness. A (very) dirty glass wasn't reassuring upon arrival, but it was changed with a smile.

A very pleasant setting, welcoming and professional staff, and quality cuisine (a rare restaurant where the salad doesn't overwhelm the plate). In short, a very good time spent with family for our son's 12th birthday.

The setting was very pleasant, as were the welcome and service. The dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. One small drawback, however, was the interminable wait between ordering and the arrival of the food, even though the restaurant wasn't nearly full. A shame, otherwise it was very good.

We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Wallilabou in La Rochelle. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and clearly made with care.
A special mention must go to our waiter, who spoke brilliant Spanish and truly made our night. His friendliness, humour, and genuine attention to detail elevated the whole experience. It’s rare to find service that feels both professional and personal, and he struck that balance perfectly.
If you’re in La Rochelle and looking for a restaurant that delivers great food, great service, and a memorable evening, Wallilabou is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

We called before the evening service opened, as it was normally fully booked or we would have had to wait until 8:30 pm, which would have been difficult with young children. The owner kindly accommodated us by seating us at 7:30 pm! The atmosphere is perfect with its pirate theme 🗡️ 💀, and the service was excellent. The servers were running around everywhere because it was so busy, so there was a wait, but it was worth it!

Fast and top-notch service, always with a smile, tasty food with beautiful presentation. Very warm and friendly waiter and chef! You get what you pay for. I recommend it and will return.
