Ziguinchor sur Marseille

This place was disappointing. Long wait for food. Starter was very mediocre. Mains were OK, but nothing special. Location was nice enough but lots of street beggars coming by. La Teranga, another Senegalese place not too far away was much better and worth walking over to if you are not based nearby. Location definitely not as good but the food was significantly better. Fish was beautifully cooked and service much quicker. They also served some chilli paste on the side which this place were missing.

The food was plentiful and the bissap was good, although slightly too sweet for me. The major drawback was the wait for the food, over 30-40 minutes, which detracted from the overall experience.

The dishes are good but it's a shame about Dibi: 5 pieces of meat.... Anyone who knows Dibi knows that it's nothing like it!

Everything is lovely about this place.

Excellent! The waitress was very friendly, the infused rums were excellent (especially the cinnamon orange), not to mention the beef mafé!!! Simply divine, and even though I don't usually like peanut butter, you couldn't taste it. The beef was incredibly tender. We were also pleasantly surprised because we arrived at 10 pm (they serve until late) and were then served very quickly on a Friday night. A minor drawback, perhaps, was the sharing platter for the appetizer (the sweet potato was rather bland and the dressing didn't seem homemade).

I would give 6 stars if I could! We ate at this restaurant today and absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and authentic, but what stood out most was the incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful service. It has definitely become one of my favorite local spots in Marseille. I also highly recommend trying the homemade rum — especially the “Bull Blood” rum, which was amazing, though very spicy. We will definitely be back!
