24/08/2024: La Huchette does good solid regional cuisine well, in a relaxing and unpretentious setting. It’s not going to blow your socks off with creativity or powerful flavours - it just about supports the Michelin star - but based on our experience you will have an enjoyable meal. We had the 5 courses for €75. Excellent amuse bouche at the start, and an unusual, seemingly steamed, bread roll with garlic butter. Decent cod pre-starter, and well crafted starters - slow cooked egg yolk, mousse and bits of veg for some, Charolais beef and beetroot for others. Our bresse chicken main was on the traditional side but came with a tasty morel sauce. It doubled as the “nugget” on the children’s menu. Desserts were OK. Staff very friendly, and quite a festive atmosphere inside. Not the awkward hush you still get in some restaurants around here. The pricing is largely as you would expect for a hotel restaurant with a star, but (a €14 kir aperitif aside) the extras are reasonably priced so the final bill doesn’t come with big surprises.
