05/05/2026: We had a fantastic experience at Auberge du Désert during our cycling trip. We had planned to stay at the municipal campsite, but after getting soaked all day in the rain, we preferred to take shelter in the dry. It was incredibly warm and welcoming, with a lovely fireplace and a very intimate atmosphere. The setting is truly charming, with the old-world charm beautifully renovated in the dining room, complete with its original fireplace. The food is excellent, with a small but delicious homemade menu. The rooms are comfortable, and the entire team is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend it!
01/05/2026: Disastrous management and contempt for the customer: avoid at all costs! As a cyclist on a tour, I had received a dinner confirmation. On the day itself, the hotel canceled and offered me an alternative 16 km away. Unable to make it, they offered me a plate of small pasta shells for €18. The manager justified this price by saying he had to call back an employee from vacation and that I had to, and I quote, pay his "social security contributions" (€16 for labor for a plate of pasta that the employee had brought from home!). This is absurd management where the customer pays for the boss's organizational errors. The room was mediocre with a strong musty smell (I was contemptuously told to open the window in response to my complaint). The cleaning was sloppy, and I found personal belongings of previous occupants in the closets. In response to my complaint sent by email (the employee on duty was lovely, and I didn't want to burden her with my remarks, which were more about the manager), the manager was arrogant and dishonest, believing that because I had chosen "the lowest rate" (still €83/night, mind you), I should just accept what I was given. In short: absolutely no sense of hospitality. If you're a cyclist or simply looking for a clean and honest place, look elsewhere. An establishment that passes the cost of its staffing problems on to its customers doesn't deserve to be in business.
