Golden Tulip
Barberey-Saint-Sulpice
25/05/2026: I stayed at the Campanile Troyes Est - Barberey and, unfortunately, the experience was quite frustrating overall.
The main problem was that the hotel's air conditioning compressor was broken, meaning none of the air conditioning units were working. I was informed that the repair wouldn't be completed for at least a week, making the rooms extremely uncomfortable during the hot weather. Under normal circumstances, I would have simply changed hotels, but their cancellation policy essentially locks you out after the first 24 hours unless you opted for a more expensive cancellation option when booking. This detail, in my opinion, wasn't made clear enough at the time of booking.
In addition to this, the room had several maintenance issues. The bathroom wall had visible cracks, and the toilet seat remained cracked for the entire first week before finally being replaced during the second week.
Another drawback: there is no elevator. If you have heavy luggage, expect to have to carry it up and down stairs.
I also had to pay for nights I ultimately didn't use, as I had to leave over the weekend with no possibility of changing or canceling the reservation.
The staff were generally polite, but the overall condition of the property, the lack of maintenance, the absence of working air conditioning, and the very rigid booking policy made for a disappointing stay. The Wi-Fi was also very slow and frequently disconnected completely.
I highly recommend checking the air conditioning status and carefully reading the cancellation policy before booking, especially during hot weather.

I also ended up paying for unused nights because I had to leave for the weekend but could not modify or cancel the reservation.
The staff themselves were generally polite, but the overall condition of the property, poor maintenance, lack of working AC, and inflexible booking policy made this stay disappointing. I would strongly recommend confirming the AC situation and reading the cancellation terms very carefully before booking here, especially during warmer months. The wifi is also very slow and often disconnected entirely.
24/05/2026: Hotel was fine but the restaurant is best avoided, it's like a third-class canteen.
