30/12/2025: A rather disappointing experience. The cottages sounded appealing but I stupidly booked one…… First off, the room had been cleaned to a really poor standard (see video). The heating system worked for about an hour and then decided to switch itself off and no way to bring it back to life from the control panel. It was -3 degrees overnight and boy you could feel it in the room which is not insulated well at all. It was freezing inside and the duvet wasn’t enough to keep you warm. I ended up getting my emergency blanket from the car to put onto the bed. You could hear everything from the neighbouring rooms - literally. Floor was absolutely freezing, like there was no insulation between the concrete foundation and room itself. During the whole night there was a constant clicking sound every minute which would drive you nuts. Luckily I went back out to the car for earplugs. In all I slept for about 3hrs in total. Perhaps the main hotel itself is better but don’t go for the Cottages! Two star rating because the breakfast was more or less ok with a good variety of options. However not a single option available for a vegetarian in the restaurant for dinner aside from one good ‘ol soup option. Lidl saved me instead. Seriously, nothing vegetarian in 2025?? This isn’t the Middle Ages. I would never return to this place despite the good location of travelling on the motorway. Good luck if you stay here, come well prepared. And a bottle of whisky in the winter might also help!
