La Tour-Du-Pin
26/05/2026: Excellent cuisine, very refined, not the kind of dishes you see often, beautiful creativity
25/05/2026: Having had a mixed experience at another "French fine dining" restaurant in my previous review, I wanted to try again here… and I wasn't disappointed at all. During a family weekend after a long hike, we booked this restaurant to recharge and enjoy a truly comforting meal. Mission accomplished. From the outside, you wouldn't expect to find such an establishment. The interior is completely different: a medium-sized dining room, neither too big nor too small, seating around thirty people. Background piano music, mainly composed by French artists, creates a particularly pleasant atmosphere. The subdued lighting, the calm and reassuring ambiance, and the elegant decor demonstrate a real attention to detail. Even the restrooms deserve a mention, which is quite rare. As for the service, it embodies the true standards of high-end dining. A single waitress provides professional and discreet service, presenting the dishes as true creations. No unnecessary explanations, just the essentials to fully enjoy the experience. When you ask for details, the ingredients are provided simply, without superfluous language, which is very much appreciated. And then there's the food… it's one of only two restaurants in my life where I've been truly impressed. The dishes speak for themselves, but they deserve a brief description. The menu changes regularly with the seasons, guaranteeing a different experience with each visit. For the starter, octopus serves as the base for an original and expertly prepared dish. A slight bitterness from the citrus is present, but the overall balance remains excellent, and the freshness of the dish is dominant. For the main course, my favorite: an assortment of small zucchini, a particularly successful curried purée, and above all, remarkable lamb. Extremely tender, it cuts with the slightest touch of a knife. The sauce perfectly ties everything together, with chickpeas and almonds adding a delightful crunch. A truly accomplished dish. Finally, the "Strawberry" dessert offers a fresh and expertly crafted composition: a meringue base, vanilla mousse, strawberries, mint… a light and effective balance. In short, the experience is excellent overall. The only slight drawback: the water had a faint taste of bleach. But this doesn't detract from the overall quality. The value for money is impressive for a menu around thirty euros. An experience I wholeheartedly recommend. A truly wonderful place, where everything is done on a grand scale.
