Les Saveurs de Nicolas
Nouvoitou
26/04/2026: Overall, a disappointing experience, despite a few positive points worth highlighting. The starter, particularly the salmon and mushroom panna cotta, was a unanimous hit at the table: very successful, flavorful, and well-executed. The vegetables in the main course were also well-prepared, and the dessert, while generous, was slightly too sweet. The red wine, for its part, was excellent.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was at odds with the advertised positioning: a seemingly indifferent waiter, hesitant in his explanations, and failing to inspire any desire or enthusiasm for exploration. Several basic touches were missing: no amuse-bouche with the aperitif (not even a simple one), no offer of water, nor even the initiative to bring a carafe—we had to ask for it.
The pace of the service was also surprising: the starter arrived before the aperitifs were finished, and the main courses seemed ready to be served, giving an impression of haste hardly compatible with an experience the establishment claims to be meticulous in its choices. Regarding the main courses, the disappointment was particularly pronounced with the tournedos (chosen by 4 out of 5 people). This type of cut is usually prized for its melt-in-your-mouth texture and tenderness. Here, the meat, despite being advertised as high-quality, turned out to be firm, stringy... in short... really not up to the standard of a tournedos—a real inconsistency with the expectations raised.
As for the homemade cola... What can I say... There's as much in common between this cola and Coca-Cola as between a goldfish and an ice skate. We tried it out of curiosity, since it was recommended instead of Coca-Cola. Not that it was bad, but there was just no connection, and ultimately it was disappointing. Whereas, if tasted under different circumstances and described accurately, it might not have disappointed. Another regrettable point regarding the drinks: after a glass of wine was spilled (which can happen), no one offered to replace it, not even at an extra cost. This kind of oversight, especially on a bill of around €250 for five people (appetizers, set menus, and hot drinks), contributes to the feeling of a general lack of attention.
Finally, the chef's presence in the dining room at the very end of the evening, very attentive to some tables but without a glance at ours, left a mixed impression in retrospect. Being in the craft industry myself, I'm not one to easily leave negative reviews. I'm aware of the demands of this profession and, generally, I prefer to be understanding rather than critical.
If I didn't say anything at the time, it's also because I was with my family and didn't want to create any tension or discomfort. So I chose not to stress about it while I was there.
It's all the more disappointing because this type of outing is rare for me: organizing a meal for five, driving two hours with the intention of offering my guests a wonderful experience… it's not insignificant. It's also not something I can easily afford. Without having set unrealistic expectations, I sincerely expected something different.
I believe that customers deserve to be treated with care. Building customer loyalty is essential, of course, but paying attention to new customers—or those just passing through—is just as important. They are also key to the success of an establishment. That, at least, is my view, and the advice I feel compelled to share.
Given the few negative comments already posted, and the way the establishment responds without ever questioning itself, I don't particularly expect any professional feedback on this review—which, in itself, is quite telling.
Ultimately, this is a place that seems to overpromise compared to what it actually delivers. With a few simple and inexpensive improvements, the experience could be significantly enhanced.
26/04/2026: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Les Saveurs de Nicolas last night, and it was a delightful surprise. The cuisine is refined, flavorful, and perfectly showcases fresh, seasonal ingredients. You can truly taste the care put into each dish, with well-balanced flavors and beautiful presentation. The chef is always attentive to his customers, as are the servers.
The setting is both warm and modern, ideal for a pleasant meal, whether as a couple, with friends, or with family. The service is welcoming and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable.
