29/03/2024: Lack of staff, average service, lack of buffet refills

24/03/2024: A regular at Shalimar in downtown Metz, I went to this one because I was nearby. I was rather disappointed. The service is slow but for a Saturday that is perhaps understandable. The dishes are OK but clearly not as good as in town, especially the cheese naan. The buffet is not highlighted on the menu. I was generally having a decent time when I discovered the state of the ice bin. It is rusty inside, dirty with lots of small brown bits of dirt and traces of ice on the bottom. Frankly, it disgusted me. The serving spoon had been there for too long, the water was far too saturated to clean and had not been changed regularly. So I wasn't able to eat the ice cream I had served myself. And what about toilet paper to wipe your hands in the toilet? Or the power strip next to the bar which is really very dirty… Honestly after seeing that I wondered if it was the same in the kitchen and what I could have eaten during the meal. Anyway, I'll go back to town next time.
