10/04/2026: Perfect! While passing through Villandry, we had lunch at this small, ideally located restaurant right next to the château (4 adults and 3 children).
The homemade dishes, prepared with regional products, were excellent! A warm welcome and friendly conversation, a convivial atmosphere—don't hesitate to book!
05/04/2026: We had lunch there on April 4, 2026. The food was very good and the welcome was extremely warm. Simple and efficient! We highly recommend it and will definitely return on our next trip to the area.

21/05/2026: Cheval Rouge Restaurant - This was great. We finished visiting Chateau Villandry, and had a 1 hour drive ahead to Saumur. As we headed out of town, we realized it might be nice to eat here before we continue. It was a rainy and blustery day, so let's stop. We were not disappointed. A nice, quiet stop. The food was just what we wanted. Since arriving in France, seems every place is serving "tourist" portions, meaning more than we can eat to the detriment of quality. Cheval Rouge was just the right amount with the wonderful French flavors. Service was quiet and efficient. A good decision to stop here. Try the Lamb stew.
18/05/2026: Old room, hair dryer not working, renovation badly needed.
As for the positives - it was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was alright.

28/04/2026: Excellent, very warm atmosphere - impeccable service, a big thank you to the waiter for his contagious joie de vivre - and very good food, all on a lovely, very pleasant terrace just steps from the castle, the perfect stop just before or just after a superb visit!

The waiter was very pleasant, energetic, and welcoming.
Everything was perfect from the appetizer to the dessert.
The wines and soft drinks (artisanal and locally made) were excellent.
We recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Homemade and high-quality cuisine!
17/12/2025: I think the management has changed, because nothing matches the reviews.
The restaurant's cleanliness needs a complete overhaul... The waitress's professionalism... thankfully the pizza was good.
But it's best to overlook the rest...

15/06/2024: Nous avons été très déçus par ce restaurant. Autant l’accueil est sympathique autant la cuisine est vraiment quelconque.
La viande était mal cuite nous dirions trop cuite et les légumes aussi. On avait l’impression qu’ils sortaient d’une conserve .
Le reste était à l’avenant. On nous avait dit qu’il était moins bon ce que nous confirmons. Nous n’y retournerons certainement pas et ne le recommanderons jamais.
Dommage le cadre est agréable.
09/06/2024: Restaurant surprenant au calme dans un ancien corps de ferme. Cuisine succulente, accueil chaleureux. Les plats étaient très joliment présenté et copieux.
