L'eau D'oust
Rohan

Rohan
26/08/2024: We came as a family a few times. I take it upon myself to give an opinion (which I rarely do) and I do it on a personal basis, not having spoken about it to the rest of my family (who will no doubt come back to La Gavotte by the way).
The choice of pancakes is limited (6 pancakes with a name, the rest on the menu with ingredients of your choice), and I find it unfortunate (but this is a personal opinion) that with such a limited choice the owners have chosen to put a "Texan" with beef in front (there is also a savoyard, one with goat's cheese, one with scallops, one with bacon, one with andouille), In any case these pancakes do not exude the desire to respect the recipes traditional or to highlight local products, it's a shame in my opinion.
My main problem is that the small menu, which could be a guarantee of the quality of the cuisine, is not really: The pancakes are not bad (but curiously they are not fine and crunchy as one might expect expect the name "gavotte", but rather tender and a little thick, of good quality). The pancakes are good, it’s the strong point of the menu.
My main problem is with the boss, who is at reception, on duty and at the cash register. The welcome is correct, sometimes smiling, high chairs are available for children. The toilets are clean. On the other hand, the service is generally long.
My main concern without doubt: the little card above all denotes the owner's intention not to bother making you "your cake". If you ask for arrangements (eg: do not add nuts, add an ingredient), this is where the problems arise. You will be judged by wide/round eyes, or even abrupt questioning. As much as I can understand that these arrangements are a source of errors and complications in the kitchen and that we want to refuse them (or accept them on a case-by-case basis), the lack of tact of the boss is hurtful for some, embarrassing for the others. It would be better to kindly explain the service constraints and refuse politely and with a smile to put you at ease, then redirect to the a la carte pancake menu to compose another one. Here, the strategy seems to be to accept but to "make it clear" that this will make you drunk (forgive me the expression) for the next service, which lacks clarity. For example: one of my relatives has food phobias and asked for arrangements at each service, which resulted in surprised looks, passive-aggressive reflections like "but there is already cheese, you know ", before finally being refused an arrangement, always without tact (hello discomfort).
Atmosphere-wise, the brief exchanges of glances with the kitchen were warmer than taking orders with the boss, with whom creating a bond is very difficult. Humor or 1 minute chat to get to know each other seems to be out of reach (honestly, I understand the difficulty of sincerely wanting to get to know or humor with clients for 10 years at work, but when being welcoming and jovial doesn't is not natural to you, you may need to ask yourself if exposing yourself to the public is a good idea). Every other time you have the impression of annoying Mr. Boss, even at the checkout if unfortunately you want to pay for each (3 households of the same family) for what you have eaten...
It's not a bad place, it's a well-located creperie with decent food, but you won't find your "safe place" with a family atmosphere, that's for sure. You will be treated like customers (which is formally the case), but here the customer is not king and above all, you will not be offered the tact that would lead you to believe so.
Without formally recommending against it (it is the human aspect and therefore very personal that plays a role here), I therefore do not recommend this creperie.
25/08/2024: Very good, well served, the pancakes are excellent and the desserts too, I see recommend

Le Petit Tonneau
Rohan
21/08/2024: given how friendly you are and your responses to certain comments I would never put a cent in your restaurant.
20/08/2024: Unpleasant welcome, no hello, no glances.
Just asking if we had reserved those which was not the case so the waitress told us that everyone was complete and returned to her service without even a goodbye... even though a table was obviously not reserved.
