21/06/2026: Having known this place for many years, I can only offer a comparison of the different meals I've had at this establishment, which has seen better days.
My latest disappointing experience:
The wait staff were very friendly but constantly running around, despite the terrace being two-thirds full.
The fried food was perfectly sized but very dry; beware of the pre-cooked bits.
The frogs' legs in cream sauce were swimming in flavorless, boxed cream.
The fries were McCain's (Fry 'n Dip) industrial fries. Couldn't they put in a little more effort?
The ice cream sundae was basic, the ice cream was entry-level.
The passion for the craft is gone. What a shame... just another one gone.
Soon there won't be any reason to go to a restaurant.

21/06/2026: Mixed feelings... the meal was delicious, the servers very friendly, but the wait was far too long... We arrived at 7:45 pm and left at 11 pm??? An hour's wait between courses... I think there might have been a problem in the kitchen, but in that case, they should simply inform the customers. Otherwise, everything was great.

The same goes for the food; the ladies are incredibly kind and attentive

Restaurant Pizzeria L'escale

01/11/2024: Nous avons voulu rééssayer une énième fois les pizzas lorsque nous avions des amis, et encore une fois déçu.
Ingrédients de mauvaise qualité et pâte avec aucun goût et cramée.
De plus, le pizzaiolo n'est tellement pas sympathique que l'on a pas envi de revenir. Même pas capable de dire un bonsoir lorsqu'on arrive.
Nous ne reviendrons plus 🤮.

So yes, the pizzas are really loaded with toppings and cheap. It's true. We cannot say the opposite.
But even on a pizza, and perhaps especially on a pizza, you need a little quality for the ingredients, otherwise it's just not great.
Concerning the welcome and the atmosphere, we will describe them as rustic.
And then the desserts... Misery... The profiteroles that come out of the cheap Metro freezers, which you are nevertheless charged quite a lot for.
Pizzas, if you are hungry, are cheap, but without pleasure. On the other hand, desserts, no, it's shameful.
