Au boeuf sur Soufflenheim

I love stopping here, between Munich and Sarreguemines, and I'm always delighted, like today.

We were very satisfied with our spontaneous restaurant visit. The food and service were of a high standard.

We rented a small chalet for 9 people, a bit cramped. The dishes were placed on benches, and there was a hot stone grill and tomato salad. Oranges were out of season, and no one ordered any. The peppers were the same. The carrots were good, the celery was good, and the fries were good. A mixed vegetable salad would have been nice, as would beets. They could have offered us seasonal vegetables when we booked, since we had to wait in advance. Overall, we had a good evening. Thank you to the cooks who exceptionally prepared a mushroom sauce for me.

Hearty and very good, great place!

The place is generally pleasant, the welcome and service were very good, however, the dining room is a bit too noisy. For our meal, we chose the €32 set menu, a very reasonable price considering what was included. For our main course, we opted for the bouchée à la reine, advertised as the restaurant's "specialty." All things considered, the presentation and quantity were excellent, and the filling was rich and varied. However, a major drawback was the sauce, which was far too thick, almost like mashed potatoes, with a rather unpleasant floury aftertaste. The accompanying spaetzle were just okay. This was the only real negative point about the dish, but perhaps we were just unlucky that day. We will nevertheless return to try the other dishes.

How can I put it? Coming from 160km away, for several years now, whenever I'm in the area, I book a table for my family, but this was the last time. The food is always good, the vol-au-vents are top-notch, the steak tartare exceptional, but today my mother's order was forgotten—it happens—so she ate half an hour later than us. To make matters worse, she received a cold ham hock. When it came time for dessert, we were told we had to hurry up and order because the cooks had left, and it was only 1:45 pm! Then, when we ordered, they made it clear it was difficult, so we left at 2:00 pm, without coffee or dessert! I was promised a discount on drinks after their (mistake), which I'm still waiting for! It's a shame for my family; my friends and I won't be going back!

The atmosphere was perfect with our neighboring table. The waitresses were fine considering the crowd and the two floors. They got mixed up between a main course and a dessert, not for our table because we hadn't ordered what she brought. It was for a neighboring table upstairs. She went to another table, ordered one dessert, but not the other, which was for us. I saw her heading back to the kitchen, so I called her over, and another waitress arrived with the dessert. We had ordered a room-temperature beer, and it arrived cold. The red wine was the same. The main courses were fine.
