Au Cruchon sur Strasbourg

I thought I'd already eaten sauerkraut before going to this restaurant… but no! It was the first time I'd ever had REAL sauerkraut, with cabbage cooked in Riesling and a mild mustard on the side (not Dijon mustard, then)… the staff really took great care of their customers. Traditional, home-style cooking… a world away from tourist traps.

This is a hidden gem downtown Strasbourg. It’s better to book the table, but we were lucky with walk-in. Food is traditional, homemade a tastes great.

Delicious and generous cuisine in an authentic Winstub setting. A hearty starter of cervelas and Gruyère cheese, excellent sauerkraut, and a ham hock cooked in a terrine with melted Munster cheese. Friendly service. The restroom decor is a fun curiosity.

Great place , great food, lovely atmosphere...definitely go in there for a typical Alsacian experience !

A really good, very local restaurant with excellent service and a very friendly atmosphere. The menu is simple but offers many good dishes. It's not highly recommended if you're looking for authentic Alsatian food, but it's worth a visit if you're looking for a place in the city center.

A truly outstanding restaurant. We had confit duck leg and cordon bleu filled with Munster cheese. If we lived here, it would certainly be one of our favorite restaurants. The service was also perfect and very friendly.

The Au Cruchon restaurant is nestled on a quiet little street, far from the hustle and bustle and tourists. As soon as you step inside, you feel like you've taken a real trip back in time, like entering an old-fashioned Alsatian tavern. The exposed beams, traditional decor, and warm atmosphere create an authentic and charming setting. You immediately feel transported to another era. We ordered four different dishes, and each one was a true success. Generous, flavorful, and honest cuisine, prepared with care. The portions are very generous—it's best to arrive with a good appetite! 😉 After these magnificent dishes, we unfortunately didn't have room for dessert… and that's the only thing we regret 😌 A precious find, away from mass tourism. If you're looking for an authentic and delicious Alsatian experience, Au Cruchon is definitely worth a visit ✨
