Good value for money. We enjoyed the mussels Provençal and with chorizo, which were delicious. The fries were amazing, and that's coming from a Belgian! 😁 A very good place.

If you're in Saint-Malo and looking for an authentic experience, Au Bouchot is a must-visit. Located in a prime spot, right in the heart of the historic city walls. As the name suggests, they specialize in mussels, and their reputation is well-deserved. We tried the mussels in béchamel sauce: they were cooked to perfection, and the quality was undeniable—fresh, flavorful, and plump. The service was attentive and prompt.

The best mussels eaten in northern France.

We went there to eat mussels prepared in different ways, but the experience was very mediocre. First of all, the mussels were tiny. Secondly, the flavors were really bland: in the Thai sauce, you could taste the coconut milk, but there were no spices or chili. And the Provençal sauce was just an onion base with absolutely no garlic flavor. A shame for a restaurant specializing in mussels. We also have serious doubts about the traceability. When I asked the owner where the mussels came from, she hesitated for two or three seconds before telling me they were from the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. It didn't sound very convincing or professional. To make matters worse, the young waiter who served us seemed completely stressed and overwhelmed. We quickly understood why when we saw the owner: extremely bossy, authoritarian, and not particularly friendly with customers. In short, a huge disappointment; we don't recommend it.
