Honfleur can be a minefield of tourist traps, but Au Relais des Cyclistes is the real deal. This is always my first stop when I arrive - a place to eat properly before diving into the city. The biggest win is reliability. While they are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, they stay open beyond typical service hours during the rest of the week - even when the rest of the town is on a break. Logistics-wise, it is perfectly located near the central parking. Unlike the "Charles V" parking nightmare where you can get stuck in the tourist zone on your way out, here it is smooth and easy. The food is exactly what you need. Just look at the photo of the galette - the portions are massive and they don't hold back on ingredients. It is honest, fast, and the prices are fair. It is also exceptionally family-friendly with a nice terrace and zero stress if you are with kids. Yes, a stroller fits: been there - done that 🤝High chairs are available as well. Do not look for fine dining here; it is a classic spot serving good, honest food. But if you want to avoid the "tourist tax" and leave with a full stomach, this is the spot.
