I often come to this place, which I like, but I've noticed more and more problems as the years go by, and I wanted to bring them up.
Honestly, the kebab and fries are great, no complaints there, but the portion sizes are lacking. There's clearly not enough fries or meat compared to what it was a few years ago and what the competition offers. Plus, the burger prices are outrageous, and I don't understand why. Four or five years ago, the mega burger meal was around €6-7, if I remember correctly. Now it's €11, I think. I don't know, maybe they're aiming for double the original price by next year?
Another problem: the sauces. Two small packets of sauce are nowhere near enough. Seriously, they're not even close. They should be giving you twice as much. I say this because they've been putting only two small sachets of sauce in their takeaway kebabs for ages now (sometimes even just one!). And when you ask for more, you honestly feel like you're bothering them. It's not at all friendly, and it's really penny-pinching. Le Roi de la Frite is the only kebab shop that's ever made me buy separate jars of sauce specifically for the kebabs I order from them. And I swear it's true.
Finally, the prices, guys. Seriously, it's become incredibly shocking. You're way, way too expensive for everything burger-related. You're almost twice as expensive as you should be. The burgers aren't bad per se. But honestly, they're nothing special either. For comparison, I eat burgers that are ten times better and more refined at Spud, which is right next door. Once, late at night, I ordered a Smash Burger on Uber Eats when I wasn't thinking straight. From what I remember, the Smash Burger was around €16-17, and get this: NO FRIES OR DRINK. Yeah, but hold on, you couldn't expect fries for that price! I can get truffle and brie burgers for the same price right next door, with fries included. For the same price, I can get a huge meal at La Taverne Paillette. How can you think your burger prices are reasonable? And the prices are inflated on Uber Eats, that's normal, but even in-store, the price is way too high. Honestly, spending €4-5 on that burger alone would have been a steal. Back in high school, we could get a kebab, fries, and a drink for €5. Now, for €17, you get a really mediocre burger with no fries or drink. By constantly trying to increase your profit margins, we'll end up not coming back. Don't forget that the reason we go to a kebab shop and not a brasserie is because it's cheaper. But if we start having to pay €10 more for a meal, we'll all reconsider traditional brasseries and restaurants. Especially since I believe kebabs and burgers are among the products on which profit margins are already highest.
