A welcoming haven at the foot of the GR10! A truly lovely place in Sainte-Engrâce! Mireille and Henri, the owners, are charming and welcoming—genuinely kind hosts, which is sometimes rare—and they make you want to come back immediately. The gîte is brand new, spotless, and offers truly excellent hotel-level quality. The cuisine is traditional, generous, and of high quality—a special mention for the fresh fries, a real treat. The start of the GR10 is 5 minutes away, a real plus for hikers. A truly unmissable stop in Sainte-Engrâce, which I highly recommend. A warm welcome at the foot of the GR10! Berriex, a place of exceptionally kind hospitality. As a hiker on the GR10, I spent the night in the gîte and enjoyed a delicious and generous dinner, as well as breakfast, in the company of other hikers. The butcher's cut of meat was of rare quality; I, a Parisian, would have been charged around fifty euros for the same thing in the capital. The ratio of smiles to quality to price is hard to beat... ❤️

Auberge Berriex stands out as our favorite gîte d’etappe and restaurant on the GR10! Good flat spaces for the tent next to the restaurant, with access to the very modern Gîte with hot showers, well equipped kitchen and they even offer a washing machine. Great food, great atmosphere and we had our best Gâteau Basque in the restaurant. Both accommodation and food are all very reasonably priced. The place is run by a hard‑working, genuinely kind couple who clearly put their hearts into everything they do. They go out of their way to help hikers and make you feel welcome!

It seems like nothing's happening here. But if you look closely, you'll notice life goes on. Someone's drinking cola, someone's washing up, someone brought me a chocolate sandwich. And someone's enjoying the silence. And it's wonderful.

Excellent welcome, attentive service, excellent and generous meals. Exceptionally kind and caring. Comfortable and high-quality rooms.

Fantastic hostel, perfect for a stopover on the GR10! (Bivouacking possible) You immediately feel at home, everything is spotless (showers, kitchen, etc.) and especially the food!!! Delicious and well-presented, the hiker's menu is only €20 for a starter, main course, dessert, wine, and coffee. Considering the quality and quantity, it's a real bargain!! And to top it all off, a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere 😊 Don't miss it!
