Auberge de Chauzeix sur Saint-Augustin

We came with friends on Sunday at lunchtime, on the advice of our owner, and what a surprise it was to find ourselves transported back to childhood, to the heart of rural France, with a rustic and charming atmosphere, and an exceptional menu based on regional products served by the very kind owner of the place... Everything tasted fantastic and we left full and delighted.

You have to love rustic inns, and that's exactly what we came looking for! Deep in the countryside, at the foot of the Suc au May, in the heart of the Monédières mountains, lies this charming inn. It's wonderful that places like this still exist: simple, friendly, and welcoming. For a price that defies the laws of globalization, traditional Corrèze dishes grace your table. The tourtou (a buckwheat pancake with sourdough) and the milhassou (a potato pancake) are my Proustian madeleines. And indeed, they taste like my childhood. The set menu is hearty and delicious. Don't expect an à la carte menu, as it's simple yet satisfying cuisine. The wines are excellent, as are the cheeses (all locally sourced). A trip is highly recommended!
