It's worth the trip! Remember to loosen your belt at the beginning of your meal. It's all-you-can-eat, but you're not obligated to have seconds. Excellent local produce, expertly prepared. Must-try frog legs, truffade (a potato and cheese dish), country ham, cheese platter, and homemade desserts: the blueberry tart...

There were about twenty of us, and we had a lovely time. The food was plentiful. The frog legs were excellent. The staff was very energetic and friendly. It's a pleasure to see people who work with such enthusiasm and good humor.

On a cycling trip, I called the day before to book a lunch break. The restaurant was full, but the owner found us a small table near the counter. After a 30km climb, what a pleasant surprise! A restaurant like in the old days. Tradespeople, construction workers, retirees out for a stroll… a lovely atmosphere. Simple but authentic cuisine (coq au vin, truffade, and a homemade blueberry/raspberry tart) – not exactly light fare, but that kind of thing didn't exist in restaurants back then. A taste of genuine Auvergne after visiting the must-see spots in this beautiful region. Thank you to the Auberge de la Cabane.

The welcome was dynamic and warm, and the local cuisine was very good. However, we were given two separate tables with two dogs; one attacked the other, which wasn't cool. Dogs are normally prohibited, so in the future, please don't accept animals, especially since the tables are close together. We will return.

You can stay at this inn. Everything is there: the welcome, the service, the quality of the food, the menu prices, and the excellent bread. A hidden gem, a place that exudes tranquility amidst breathtaking scenery. Not to mention the small shop where you'll find local products.

Before visiting my father at the cemetery in Saint-Alyre-es-Montagne (63), my mother and I stopped at La Cabane one Sunday at lunchtime. I managed to snag a reservation just in time due to a cancellation, as this inn has such an excellent reputation! We each enjoyed an all-you-can-eat frog leg, followed by a peach melba topped with an exquisite, unforgettable homemade Chantilly cream! The dining room and bar were packed, but the atmosphere was great and very quiet. One of the sisters, smiling, served at the bar while the other worked in the kitchen with someone else washing up; all this in a pleasant atmosphere where there was very little waiting despite the crowds. I highly recommend this warm and clean establishment, where everything is homemade with local products, and which is nestled at 1100 meters altitude in the heart of the mountains, a perfect place to recharge your batteries.
