Lunch on a winter's day after a hike in the snow is the perfect break in the heart of the Alsatian countryside at the Auberge de la Rothlach, perched on the heights of Hohwald, 45 minutes from Strasbourg. The former forester's lodge, with its simple rustic charm—exposed beams and a well-heated interior—invites you to relax. The welcome is warm and the staff are friendly. Alsatian specialties are served at very reasonable prices (expect to pay around €20-25). They also sell local products such as honey. Please bring cash as credit cards are not accepted. Reservations are recommended. For your convenience, there is ample free parking, pets are welcome (perfect for a walk with the dog), and the inn is open year-round except on Mondays.

Charming, friendly people and delicious food. It's very good, I'll go back. One drawback: they don't accept credit cards, but as we know, we're prepared for that.

Excellent meal, very good value for money, not to be missed

The sauerkraut, herring, and ham hocks are excellent, and the calf's head is one of the best I've ever had. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Don't forget to make a reservation, but please leave me some space.

A stopover after a mountain hike. Excellent welcome. Warm atmosphere and excellent dessert. We'll return for lunch to have the opportunity to taste the regional dishes.
