Exceptional welcome from the English couple who run these guest rooms very well: clean, spacious, equipped. Thank you for picking us up before the stage where we were tired
Small, cute, clean, quiet establishment. The owners are charming people, really very friendly. We ate very well there. The owner cooks, and it's very good. Bravo and thank you.
It all started with a misunderstanding! The Auberge de la Sagne isn't a hotel, but a private home offering bed and breakfast accommodation, run by an English couple. The owner greeted us by asking if we spoke English, as her understanding of French wasn't perfect. I admit I was surprised and rather shocked. Having visited England quite often, I can't imagine asking an English person, in their own country, to speak French—it's completely unthinkable!
Once the host arrived, who spoke French, the misunderstanding was cleared up.
The rooms are spacious, bright, comfortable, and tastefully furnished. Perhaps one could wish for a small table or desk, and the traditional tea/coffee welcome with a kettle would have been a nice touch. The property has a large parking lot opposite the inn and a pleasant swimming pool. Located not far from the Pech-Merle caves, it is, however, difficult to reach on foot. The same applies to getting to the village of Cabrerets, about 1 km away, but via a road that is quite dangerous for pedestrians.
