I have rarely had such a refined gastronomic experience as at Auberge du 12ème Siècle. From the moment you enter, you are captivated by the atmosphere: this building, full of character, with its ancient beams and soft lighting… everything exudes understated elegance. But the food… it's a resounding yes. Each dish tells a story, with incredible precision and sensitivity.
The smoked trout from Langeais was exceptionally delicate: the ultra-subtle smoking allowed the fish's flavor to shine through, enhanced by the rich, vegetal nettle coulis, followed by the thick cream and wild herbs that brought an almost poetic freshness. Clearly one of the finest starters I've had in a long time.
Even the details are taken to a rare level: the sauces are masterful, the presentation elegant without being artificial, the pacing of the meal is perfect, and the service is remarkably professional yet warm. You can sense a genuine focus on the Loire Valley terroir, local produce, and seasonality, but with a very contemporary approach.
And the strawberry dessert… incredibly fresh and textured. Nothing heavy, everything is subtle, precise, and ethereal. You leave the restaurant with that rare feeling of having experienced a true gastronomic moment, not just a “good meal.”

Who said you have to come to Saché for the Balzac Museum? Me...before I stopped at the Auberge du 12.
The table had been reserved, as one does when wanting to punctuate a day with a pleasant break...it wasn't just pleasant, it was extraordinary. The cuisine is resolutely rooted in tradition, yet superbly inventive. It's a blend of flavors and surprises that stays with you long afterward... As for the staff, they reflect the atmosphere of the place: discreet and attentive. I should add that humor is not foreign to this fine establishment, which cultivates it with a certain refinement. Balzac would certainly have found a wonderful subject for a novel here.

I booked a table for my father’s birthday and we had a wonderful experience. We chose the 5-course menu and were delighted by the quality and refinement of the food. In addition to the five dishes, we were served three assortments of starters and a selection of mignardises, which made the experience all the more special.
Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We also greatly enjoyed the sunny terrace for lunch, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
The staff was professional, kind, and accommodating of my dietary requirements.

It's a pleasure to have lunch at this Michelin-starred restaurant. We enjoyed a five-course meal after an aperitif with a few amuse-bouches and an amuse-bouche. The flavors and tastes exploded in the mouth! Only local ingredients and fish were used, along with lesser-known local wines that deserve to be discovered. The staff suggested a small change to the lamb, which my partner doesn't like. We had coffee on the terrace with some petits fours. The service was efficient and quick. We had a wonderful time.
