Auberge Saint Maclou sur Rouen

THE BIG BANG IS BORN IN SAINT-MACLOU! Our pleasure when we come to Rouen is to have a good lunch (we are not French for nothing) and especially at the Auberge Saint-Maclou. We are never disappointed. Everything is enchanting. The storefront already invites you to open the door after reading the mouth-watering menu outside. Once inside, we feel good. It is a perfect harmony of good tastes where the old Norman style combines with touches of modernity. The welcome is simple and warm. Now, the meal. Already everything is homemade (vade retro Metro!). As a starter, we had different dishes. For one thing, it was a velouté of a tuber from the sunflower family with an artichoke flavor but I forgot the name. Héliantis, I think. Oops ! Sorry to those who took ancient Greek as a first language or botany bac +12! . It was so good that I wished it wouldn't stop. It was divine. For the main course, the same, we had different dishes. The pork was of a tenderness never encountered before. The cassoulet au gratin with neufchâtel was apparently to die for. But from the earth to the universe, there is only one step... of stardust because the deconstructed lemon tart was a galaxy of flavors, of creaminess, of crunch, which after a few strokes of the spoon was transformed the plate into a big bang. Plus one star for this delicious dessert on the plate. See the photos as proof (galaxy of lemon flavors then after the big bang🙃). Homemade makes all the difference. In addition, the chef dares to introduce flavors without going too far so as not to “lose” the traditional people that we are. This is the happy medium. We will come back to this, of course. You will see the boss is very nice and has a kind word for everyone and his employee is also very pleasant. I don’t know if they will read it but we say a big BRAVO to them.

Great setting in the old town. Refined cuisine but for starter and dessert (3 cubes of pineapple...) the quantity is very small! 35 € the menu seems excessive. Otherwise the rest was perfect.

We had a really beautiful food experience here. The local cheese selection was very nice also. The staff was very friendly also. I loved the deconstructed tarte au citron

Nice restaurant but nothing special. The atmosphere is very nice, shame about the slightly chilly temperature. Welcoming and kind staff, good service but attention to hygiene: tables without tablecloths/placemats which force you to place dirty cutlery directly on the table (and not changed between one course and another). Furthermore, the menus had been placed on top of clean glasses (face up glasses). Food, nothing to write home about. Typical French cuisine where butter abounds everywhere and was predominant over the other flavours. Plus the perfect egg was definitely cold! Good preparations and plating. Overall it could have been fine if it weren't for the price being too high (for gourmet cuisine) compared to the offer. Mediocre wine by the glass.

Excellent welcome with a sense of commerce 👍 Very good table with fresh products that we are not used to eating. I would have liked a plate that was a little more delicious and a little more elaborate with an additional condiment (vegetable for example) and it would have been perfect 😉

Tout était parfait, de l'accueil à la cuisine délicieuse. Merci aux cuisiniers qui ont su adapter avec talent les plats à un régime alimentaire strict. Nous reviendrons.

Un endroit très agréable et chaleureux, ainsi qu’un bon accueil et service 😁 En ce qui concerne la nourriture, je l’ai trouvé très bonne avec une bonne découverte gustatives 🍽️ À venir faire un tour si vous venez sur Rouen 😝

Bonjour, Nous sommes un couple venus manger mercredi soir dernier. Nous avons pris une côte de bœuf à deux et c’était vraiment très bon ! Accueil chaleureux, personnel agréable et plats très bon. Je recommande :)
