This hotel was spot on. Located in the middle of town where you could easily walk to all restaurants. It was also steps away from meeting points for tours to Normandy which made life very easy. We arrived by train and walked to the hotel from the station..about 15 minutes.

A very warm welcome with a genuine desire to please. The room was pleasant and clean. The delicious breakfast featured local and homemade products. Highly recommended.

We needed a room with no stairs and a walk in shower for mobility reasons. This room went above and beyond. We were in a separate building on the main floor and our friends were in the same building. The entrance was secure with passage allowed with our room key. No stairs getting into the building or the room. Plus, it was located next to a beautiful canal so you could open your window to see the water right next to you. Shower was roomy and very safe for anyone with mobility issues. And the restaurant was wonderful - great staff and delicious food.

The room was extremely large and had a great bathroom. The location of the hotel was perfect - about a block off the main street and so easy to get to shopping, dining and sight-seeing. We enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel each morning and it was very convenient before being picked up for tours.

The Hotel Reine Mathilde was perfect for our stay in Bayeux. The rooms were large and comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for 3 nights. Small but comfortable room. Great location across from the church and a couple of minutes walk to the pickup point for the tours. Quite reasonably priced. We did not try the breakfast or the restaurant.

Wonderful stay! The hotel is right across from the beautiful Cathedral in town. Room are small, but very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. However, be prepared to carry luggage up the narrow stairs!

The hotel is in the middle of Bayeux. It's very clean and the rooms are decorated nicely. It's in an old building that has been remodeled with good workmanship. I worked the building trades so I notice details and this was quality work. The staff was 100 % helpful and accommodating. I don't speak much French, but the staff will kindly help you in English. I stayed for two days. I ate the smoked duck breast salad, oysters on the half shell, scallops with risotto, and of course the french onion soup. All that and mourning buffet were wonderful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. They also have a full bar

31/07/2026: We had a wonderful time at "Chez Paulette". We received a very warm welcome, and since we were traveling with two young daughters and a stroller, the staff didn't hesitate to move tables to make the terrace as comfortable as possible for us. We had a beautiful view of the cathedral, and the bagels were delicious and great value. We highly recommend it.

24/08/2026: A very warm welcome, a very pleasant meal, quality wines, and excellent desserts. Just be sure to check your bill carefully, as I had a small issue: a bottle of Poully-Fuissé was charged well above the price listed on the wine list. After contacting the restaurant manager by phone, he confirmed the error and is awaiting a refund. This should be processed soon. Otherwise, I highly recommend this restaurant for discerning palates.
23/08/2026: Excellent cuisine, quality ingredients, and delicious dishes. The welcome is warm and the service pleasant. The setting on the banks of the Aure River is truly charming. We had a wonderful time and will gladly return. I highly recommend Le Volet qui Penche!
