In winter, it's very drafty, and in summer it's like a rotisserie! A shame, because it's a pretty station.

Exiting to reach the tram via the North exit is a bit complicated.

This bus station is convenient, located right next to the south train station and accessible directly from the exit. The schedules are generally reliable.

A city best visited during the day. Avoid visiting in the evening.

Too many ticket inspectors, and the south station is a bit dodgy. It's not pleasant to linger outside for too long. The trains and the central platform are quite old, though. That's what should be the priority, even more so than the recently renovated exterior.

Like all train stations in France, it's a large station and shopping center with a good variety of services. It looks nice, clean, and well-maintained. There's security, though not as heavy as in some other stations, but I don't think it's unsafe. It's well signposted and drops you off right in the city center, just a few meters from the famous Château des Ducs de Bretagne and the even more famous cathedral, the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Nantes. So you can arrive early, see these two attractions, and take a pleasant stroll through the charming historic center. It's easy to wander around, grab a bite to eat, and then head out to another spot in the evening, or stay and enjoy it at a more leisurely pace. The city is beautiful.

Very beautiful, clean city with many monuments to visit and green spaces. Everything is easy to do on foot or by tram. Beautiful city center.
