Le Canari is an institution, however, it's regrettable that the staff isn't pleasant or welcoming. We were treated condescendingly despite making minimal dietary requests. The quality of the meals is decent and good value for money. It's worth noting that what you're told over the phone when booking doesn't live up to the reality. The terrace is under a veranda that becomes a real oven when it's hot, with no ventilation! Meanwhile, there's a shaded terrace area behind the establishment that's unused! In short, it's okay, but nothing special! Note that the escaveche is excellent, and so are the fries!
I had the opportunity to have lunch today for Belgian National Day.
A menu created by Richard featuring Chimay beer.
A lovely atmosphere with a live band.
A superb experience. I highly recommend it.
Two great meals with our cycling groups. Delicious brasserie-style dishes with homemade fries at very reasonable prices. Efficient and friendly service. A wide selection of beers. In short, a very enjoyable time spent on the terrace of this restaurant. Go for it!
A peaceful place that brings back many memories (August 2019 review).
June 2026 review - After many visits since 2019, today's visit still brought pleasant surprises: a Pyrenean mountain pork chop in its own juices. A delight of taste and flavor.
And the welcome, service, and atmosphere are still just as they were in 1960. The true French tradition of a typical restaurant.
