A truly wonderful discovery! Café de la Paix possesses remarkable historical charm. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to another era, with a setting that has preserved all the elegance and authenticity of bygone days. The prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of the experience. The welcome is impeccable, the service pleasant, and the premises are very well maintained, right down to the restrooms. A truly unique interlude during our stay, which greatly contributed to discovering the beauty and charm of the city. A place well worth a visit!

Top-notch café/bistro, the service and food were truly excellent, we weren't disappointed. We ate for under €45 for two and it was definitely worth it. The waitress and waiter were friendly and efficient, I highly recommend it!

I like to imagine the people of La Rochelle a hundred years ago sitting in this café under the same painted ceilings. The Belle Époque décor is magnificent, with its mirrors, woodwork, and chandeliers. People don't just come for a coffee, but to spend time in a place that is part of La Rochelle's history.

A historic cafe, but a real problem with the jaded and unfriendly staff...

A certain waiter in the dining room this Saturday displayed unacceptable familiarity. Management must monitor this type of waiter.

08/09/2026: A very cute, warm, and welcoming bistro! The lady who served us was charming and polite. A very good experience; we came from Brussels but we will be back!
07/09/2026: Friendly service, opposite the market in a very quiet but lively location.
