Cafe de la Ville sur Montresor

A lovely place to eat in the shadow of Montrésor Castle. It can get quite busy, so a little patience is needed. Reasonable prices for home-style cooking.

It's best to book in advance if you're coming in a group, especially in France where restaurants are often full at lunchtime. The food was excellent. The menu isn't very extensive, but that's precisely a sign of quality: the dishes are perfectly cooked and met our expectations. The ribeye steak with fries was particularly delicious. The terrace was full, and there were only two servers. Despite the fast pace, they remained efficient and did their best to serve everyone. Just be aware that they can't always wait long while you choose, especially when ordering with young children. This wasn't a problem for us given how busy it was. The only negative point was that a table directly behind us was smoking throughout our meal. We were with three children, and the smoke regularly drifted towards our table, which made the experience less enjoyable. We don't know exactly what the rules are in France regarding smoking on terraces; As tourists, we simply tried to adapt. It's a shame, because otherwise the experience would have been excellent.

A wonderful experience! The waiter was always very pleasant, and the owner/chef was very friendly. Speaking of the food, the steak tartare was excellent, the portions were generous, and what I appreciated was that you don't have a huge menu, which is a sign of quality. Thank you.

We came to eat with friends and family, and overall it was a very pleasant meal. The meat was a real treat! The sirloin steak was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth! My compliments to the chef! A slight disappointment was the desserts, particularly the raspberry tart (which I suspect was frozen) as the pastry was crumbly and soggy, though still tasty. Suggestion: perhaps involve the local baker? In any case, a good overall rating. Not exceptional, but good, we recommend stopping by if you're passing through the area.

A wonderful Café de la Ville, boasting a history dating back at least to the 1950s; especially its air-conditioned section (it was nearly 38°C outside). Good food; generous portions; excellent homemade raspberry tart. Very polite and efficient staff.

We stopped there on Saturday, June 27th at midday after visiting Chenonceau, then exploring Montrésor, which we found to be one of the prettiest villages in France. It was scorching hot outside, but the restaurant was very well air-conditioned, well-located, and very pleasant, with generous and excellent cuisine. The waiter was smiling and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A very welcome lunch break... well done! And thank you!

We came for lunch on Sunday. Yes, there was a bit of a wait, but that's understandable given how busy it was. And what's more, the food was excellent, the service was very welcoming, and the servers were lovely. Thank you!
