As soon as we stepped through the door, we found ourselves in the heart of a true Lyonnais bistro... checkered tablecloths, puppets on the walls, waiters in aprons, generous and convivial cuisine... authentic Lyonnais fare. Always excellent. A real pleasure every time. The profiteroles with pistachio ice cream are to die for. The Lyonnaise platter is also very good as a starter. The daily special is simple but delicious tripe. Whenever I can, I eat at this restaurant and I'm never disappointed. What's really great is that everyone mingles in this magical place, from bankers to house painters, dentists to electricians. It's definitely worth a visit. Reservations are recommended.

This is a very niche, local spot with a lot of character. The menu is quite small, so it’s definitely worth checking it in advance before heading there, especially since their grenouilles (frog legs) are only served on Friday nights. The food was good overall, but it’s the kind of cuisine that can be a bit of an acquired taste, especially if you’re not already familiar with traditional Lyonnaise dishes. As for the cervelle de canut, I’d definitely recommend ordering it alongside the main dishes rather than having it at the end as a cheese or dessert it works much better that way. Also worth noting, the service was on the slower side, so best to come with a bit of patience. I’d say this place is best suited for those who have already explored most of the classic Lyonnaise specialties and are looking to try something a bit more authentic and off the beaten path.

This lunchtime, we had the pleasure of dining at L’Obus in Villeurbanne. Normally, you need to book about a week in advance, but arriving without a reservation, the waiter went above and beyond to find us a table immediately.
And wow… what an experience! Everything you expect from a true Lyonnais bouchon was there: authentic, generous, and delicious cuisine.
The owner is truly lovely, the welcome is warm, and the entire team takes care of the customers with an attentiveness that is sadly becoming increasingly rare.
In short, an exceptional place that I recommend without hesitation. And one thing is for sure: every time we're in Lyon, we'll be back to L’Obus. Thank you for this wonderful experience!
