Castel Novel SA sur Varetz

We came to see the Lantern Festival, and although it was magnificent, I found it really lacked organization, from the parking, where we had to walk a lot from the Colette Gardens (especially since my wife is pregnant), to the long walk to get there and then the entire visit itself. Apart from that, it was really lovely; the castle was also very beautiful, but the price was a bit high for so many inconveniences!

Eager to experience this magical lantern display inspired by Alice in Wonderland, we set off on a 3-hour drive. We arrived just in time for the 6 pm opening, but our first problem was the parking lot, which was far from the site and had no safety barriers whatsoever. We had to walk along the road in the middle of traffic. Inside the site, although thousands of boardwalks had been installed, they were waterlogged and unstable, and where there weren't any, it was slippery and dangerous. The castle is magnificent, the park and the lights superb, and despite the crowds, the magic was definitely there. However, I can't give it 5 stars because after the drive and the 2-hour walk in the park, we wanted to eat at the snack bar. After a 45-minute wait, we were told they were out of sandwiches and hot dogs, only fries 😡. So, rather than prolong the magic, we went to eat elsewhere outside. Regarding the price, while of course you have to pay for all these facilities, I think some services were no longer available compared to the beginning, even though the price remains the same. We were left wanting more, both literally and figuratively.

A beautiful castle with lovely rooms and very friendly staff. However, a major drawback is the breakfast, which unfortunately does not live up to the price. The bread and pastries are frozen and of poor quality.

The Festival of Lights at Castel de Novel Castle was simply magnificent. A magical lighting display in an exceptional setting.

Having come last night with a group including two people with disabilities, I have mixed feelings. We didn't come to the hotel, but to the light festival. The light displays are truly beautiful, and you can imagine the enormous amount of work involved in setting them up. The theme was "Alice in Wonderland." However, the park is a quagmire, even with the boardwalks... Furthermore, there are no facilities for wheelchairs; it's a real struggle. The toilets are filthy, covered in urine and other disgusting things. Finally, something completely unacceptable and even dangerous: The park suddenly goes dark without any warning. All at once, there's no light anywhere, and you find yourself in the park in total darkness, not even a lamppost, absolutely no light. This was very inconvenient with two people with disabilities in our group, one of whom uses a wheelchair. It's actually dangerous because you can't see anything at all; there's a risk of falling or having an accident. It's completely unacceptable! Furthermore, the snack bar is ridiculously expensive: €12 for a sandwich!

The Festival of Lights was magnificent, a true feast for the eyes. However, I found the entrance fee a bit high considering the overall experience. The setting is superb: the restaurant looks very tempting, and the castle makes you want to stay longer. A wonderful experience, albeit an expensive one.

A surprise weekend for my husband's 50th birthday! The team was kind, friendly, attentive, and efficient. A problem was resolved very quickly and effectively. The location is peaceful and the setting is pleasant. The room perfectly complemented the château, with tasteful decor and decor. At Table Chez Henri, the cuisine was simple yet delicious, and the staff was also incredibly welcoming. For a relaxing and uncomplicated stay, I highly recommend Château Castel Novel and Table Chez Henri. Thank you for your hospitality and professional organization. K. Bosson

A beautiful lantern display! Worth a visit.

We came as a family for the lantern festival. It was beautiful, we had a wonderful time! If you're coming in the next few days, bring boots. A very beautiful festival.

We enjoyed this bright evening dedicated to Alice in Wonderland! We were freezing cold, BUT it was worth it! The sculptures are truly beautiful!
