Okay. I was looking for a fairly typical pub, one that works with local producers. Bingo! At Chez Flavien, I had one of my best meals ever. Maroilles cheese croquettes for a starter, Welsh rarebit for the main course, and even dessert. I was stuffed, but it was so delicious. They gave me great beer recommendations, which really enhanced the experience. The photo is just to give you a sense of the rest of the meal: I didn't leave a single thing on my plate. My only complaint: the fries. They were good, sure, but they could have been double-fried, as is sometimes done, but it wasn't enough to lower the overall rating. It's authentic, it's homemade, and that's exactly what I was hoping for.

A very nice, friendly, and welcoming bistro; everything was delicious, and they even have a vegetarian option. Highly recommended!

A very positive first experience at this restaurant. The dishes were generous and delicious. A big thank you to the waiter who, despite the crowd, managed everything single-handedly with speed and efficiency.

A pleasant time and very good food. We were a table of 15 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the carbonnade, the chicken with Maroilles cheese, and the pootjleveesh. However, this experience was marred at the time of payment by the attitude of the person who seemed to be the owner: displeasure that some people were paying in cash, a remark when we spoke to her dog, which was right by the till (she could have simply put the basket behind the bar), and an unpleasant way of asking the last three people to pay about two unpaid mayonnaises (for a table of 15, she could have offered them for 50 cents each). She said, "I'm warning you, there are two mayonnaises that have been consumed but not paid for, you'll have to pay for them!" When we pointed out that the people probably didn't know they were extra, she replied, "It's on the menu!" It's a shame, she lost customers... her behavior ruined everything.

The place has a rustic, old-fashioned feel, and the food is very good. A great find and a very good pub :).
