Chez Francoise sur Meymac

We stopped for one night and ended up staying for four days! Wonderful food at the wonderful Françoise's.

It's not a luxury establishment, but it's places like this that showcase French gastronomy. The wine cellar is excellent and reasonably priced. The cuisine is very traditional and of high quality.

The place is easily accessible in a very pleasant village, and the setting is truly steeped in nostalgia and exquisite taste. Françoise welcomes us with wildflowers on each table, handwritten menus on a single sheet of paper, and an amuse-bouche of local charcuterie, among other little details you'll discover... You can certainly take your time over lunch, but the dishes are beautiful and delicious; you forget about your watch here... time stands still, and the wine helps you forget it all! The establishment boasts an exceptional wine cellar and offers more than enough satisfying and enjoyable dishes for our palates and backpacker stomachs. Thank you to the whole team and to Françoise, and may this place continue so that our traditions endure in our villages...

We had heard about this establishment, so we wanted to see for ourselves. An evening with friends, a cozy atmosphere. A lovely lady was very knowledgeable about wine, and the wine cellar was superb. We followed her recommendations for the wines, and we weren't disappointed by the selection. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were even treated to a homemade terrine in addition to our main course. We had a very pleasant time.

Overall, a very pleasant evening at Chez Françoise in Meymac. The food was good, and the service was exceptionally warm and attentive. We especially appreciated being shown the treasures of the wine cellar – a truly lovely and personal touch. However, a few minor issues prevented it from being a perfect evening: The filet was served with button mushrooms instead of porcini, even though the price remained the same. Furthermore, the filets arrived cooked to different degrees. We had been informed beforehand that only medium was available. Despite these minor discrepancies, we felt very comfortable and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The personal touch and the glimpse into the wine cellar made the visit particularly special. Overall, a definite recommendation – with some room for improvement in order fulfillment.

The food is good and made with high-quality local products. However, during my visits to the grocery section, I was disappointed by the service several times. Either you're made to feel clearly like you're bothering them, or worse, you're completely ignored. While busy chatting with a friend, they don't even say hello or goodbye. I waited (a long time) and ended up leaving empty-handed. What a shame.
