Chez Michel sur Castagniers

This restaurant is highly recommended for its typical Niçoise cuisine, ideal for discovering the region's gastronomy. The food is excellent. The service is a little slow, but this was understandable given the large number of guests attending a wedding. The panoramic view of the A202 and the Var region is magnificent. I highly recommend this establishment.

A fantastic experience at Chez Michel! The setting on the small village square is truly lovely, especially on the terrace. The cuisine is authentic and generous, with homemade Niçoise dishes (special mention for the ravioli 👌). A warm welcome and friendly atmosphere make you feel right at home. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend it!

Excellent food, great musical atmosphere

A good restaurant in the hinterland, yes, it's a great place to be. Taking over from the iconic Chez Michel, number 1, wasn't easy. The new owners have risen to the challenge successfully. While people no longer come specifically for Jeanine's ravioli, they still settle down on the lovely terrace overlooking the church square to enjoy Niçoise specialties, as well as other dishes as varied as frog legs, beef tartare, or grilled octopus. The owners are welcoming and friendly. The service is a little slow (it was busy that evening), but the dishes we ordered were high quality, and the portions were generous. The food is homemade, and you can tell! If you have the chance to meet the chef (who is also the owner), you'll find him to be a man passionate about his craft and driven by a desire for creativity. I highly recommend this establishment.

Our table was mostly in the sun. The waiter barely helped us move the tables and parasols. The tables were wobbly, which was very unpleasant. The wait was interminable, from beginning to end. People who arrived after us were served before us. We ordered wine, but the waiter didn't bring the wine glasses. We had to ask him regularly for carafes of water. The menu stated: charcuterie + vegetable fritters + Swiss chard flan. We expected three appetizers, but it was served on a SMALL plate: charcuterie, ONE single fritter, and a TINY piece of Swiss chard flan. It should be labeled: a plate composed of charcuterie, a vegetable fritter (👍), and a Swiss chard flan (👍) (and a larger one). There was no choice of appetizer. We ordered wine, but the waiter didn't bring the wine glasses. We had to ask him for carafes of water regularly. The menu stated: charcuterie + vegetable fritters + Swiss chard flan. There was no choice for the main course either (ravioli and beef stew: very good and well-served). For dessert, there were several options: only two scoops of ice cream were served, even though it costs €4 à la carte and the other desserts on the set menu are €8 à la carte. They should have offered three scoops with whipped cream. Finally, the desserts from the set menu were charged on the bill as if they had been ordered à la carte. (We were reimbursed after we pointed this out.) It's a shame because the food was very good.

Excellent cuisine, very good value for money. Hearty meals and a charming setting!

The charm of this restaurant lies in its setting and view; the outdoor area is truly lovely. The service was excellent, professional, very attentive, and responsive to our various requests. Regarding the food, the pissaladière was very good, the country-style appetizer wasn't exceptional (that's just my opinion), the only beignet was very dry and flat, but the daube was good, as were the ravioli, and you can tell everything is homemade. I think I'll come back with my sweetheart to order à la carte.

A perfect lunch for a wedding, enjoyed in the cool shade of the trees and parasols. The staff were very friendly and attentive, responsive to our needs. Everything was homemade and delicious from start to finish of this generous, locally sourced menu. An excellent choice.

I arrive at 7:30 PM and start eating at 10:20 PM. Otherwise, I forgive you because the ravioli are actually good.

A rare and authentic find! The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. There are far too few establishments of this quality these days; a truly wonderful discovery.
