## A Masterclass in Irish Hospitality in the Heart of Bordeaux!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you find yourself wandering the stunning, wine-soaked streets of Bordeaux but suddenly crave the irreplaceable warmth, banter, and perfectly poured pint of a true Irish pub, look no further than **Dick Turpins**. Tucked away like a hidden gem, this place is an absolute sanctuary for locals, expats, and weary travelers alike. I’ve visited Irish pubs all over the world, but the vibe here is something truly special. It captures the authentic, beating heart of Ireland and transplants it flawlessly into southwest France.
From the second you pull open the heavy wooden door, you are wrapped in a wave of genuine nostalgia. The decor is wonderfully traditional—dark wood accents, vintage memorabilia, cozy nooks, and a dim, inviting glow that instantly makes you want to pull up a stool and settle in for the night. The atmosphere strikes that elusive, perfect balance: it’s lively enough to get your energy up for a great night out, yet comfortable enough that you could easily spend hours reading a book or catching up with an old friend over a quiet drink.
But what truly elevates Dick Turpins from a great pub to a legendary one is the staff, and specifically, the bartender. Let’s be completely honest: **the bartender here is an absolute legend**.
From the moment we walked in, we weren't just treated like paying customers; we were welcomed like old regulars returning home. This absolute maestro behind the bar manages a packed Friday night crowd with the effortless grace of a conductor leading an orchestra. Need a flawless, velvety Guinness with a perfect head? Done. Want a brilliant local recommendation for the next stop on your Bordeaux trip? They’ve got you covered. Want to swap a few hilarious stories or engage in some top-tier banter? They are right there with a quick wit and a massive smile. It’s rare to find someone with that level of genuine charisma, infectious energy, and dedication to hospitality. They single-handedly turned our great evening into an unforgettable highlight of our trip.
Beyond the world-class service, the drink selection is phenomenal. The beer is crisp, fresh, and served at the exact right temperature (a rarity in some continental pubs!). They also boast a fantastic whiskey lineup that will satisfy both casual drinkers and true connoisseurs. If you're feeling peckish, the pub grub is comforting, hearty, and the ultimate companion to a cold pint.
Whether you are looking to watch a high-stakes rugby match on the big screens, enjoy some fantastic live music, or simply bask in the unbeatable *craic*, Dick Turpins delivers on every single front. It is a beautiful melting pot of cultures where French charm meets Irish soul.
Five stars simply aren't enough for this place. Do yourself a massive favor while you're in Bordeaux: skip the standard wine bars for just one evening, head straight to Dick Turpins, raise a glass, and say hello to the legendary bartender. Sláinte!

This place wasn't on my list but I passed it a couple of times and I had to go in. Traditional pub vibes, good selection of ales. Had 3 sharing plates: sausage, pate and camambert served with bread, well priced and tasty, good accompaniment to the beer.

I came here for a drink, and I wasn't disappointed! I came on a Monday. Marina, the bartender, was amazing. Smiling, kind, and attentive, she gave me great recommendations, and I had a good laugh with her.
A very good time; she managed everything perfectly, even on her own. The little black dog was incredible. I highly recommend it.
