A room that evokes the warmth of the mountains, a wonderful family running the hotel, with their son in the kitchen offering exceptional quality dishes that will leave you wanting more, a full breakfast served by the lovely Michèle, rooms with balconies, tables and chairs, and pretty bathrooms, very comfortable beds and high-quality linens—care is evident throughout the building. Not to mention the location, away from the village center, a delight for children. A warm and pleasant welcome after a long day of travel. Will we return? Yes, without hesitation! The peace and quiet are perfect, yet only a 10-15 minute walk (without ski boots). The prices are reasonable compared to other resorts in the village. When I read some of the negative comments, I don't understand their negativity. Perhaps they're used to higher standards but don't want to pay the price. We found the price, the welcome, and the quality to be excellent.
Really nice hotel and nice staff except for the guy on reception who I think is the owner.
From the moment we arrived he was looking for problems. He said they didn't have a booking. He checked twice and we realised he wasn't joking.
I asked for a piece of paper and wrote my name down for him. He was able to find it then.
He then got indignant that we turned up at 11am when check-in is 3pm. [Checkout is 10am.]. We didn't mind not being able to check-in to any of the the rooms we had booked but wanted somewhere to store our luggage. He was annoyed at us for asking. He said that they have nowhere to store it. He was closing the reception and restaurant section on 20 minutes so we couldn't leave it there. It was his wife who came to the rescue and said we could store it in one of the rooms.
You have to let them know by 6pm of you want breakfast the next day. Quirky but fair enough for a small hotel.
The restaurant customers seemed happy and staff were friendly but we didn't eat there because of the experience with the receptionist.
We didn't have one of the room keys (yes: keys). His wife tried to help us find it in the bedrooms (we had three). The receptionist told us it was €50 for a replacement key.
It is understandable to have a cost to replace a key even when you haven't installed modern hotel locks but €50 to replace a small key on a small wooden keyring is just gouging people.
There were small issues like: not having bath towels bit these were given to us later without any hassle by the other staff. None of the three rooms had all the lights working - either bedside lights or the main lights were not working.
The halls have lights that switch off automatically after a few seconds.
If there is nowhere else available, it is a nice hotel. It is such a shame about the attitude of the guy at reception.
If you want to meet the French Basil Fawlty, I'd highly recommend it.
