Frankly not great, disappointing except for the salads which are hearty and delicious, the pizzas are very thin, they look like flammekueches and the so-called fries, let's not even talk about them, needs to be reviewed in time.

A very friendly welcome, fast service, and well-prepared dishes! What more could you ask for?

The service was quite fast, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The set menus are relatively inexpensive for what they offer: €20 for a nice starter, a good pizza, and a dessert. I highly recommend it.

We received a very warm welcome with our dog. The service and hospitality were excellent. The dishes were generous and gourmet, with many homemade products. We will be back!

A Little History...
The Capuchin convent was headed by a guardian and was composed of priests, religious brothers, and non-priests, about ten in total.
Near the Forges Bridge, under the porch, as you leave Trèbes, heading towards Carcassonne, the El Campo restaurant-pizzeria has been a fixture of the landscape for decades, but many customers are unaware, upon opening the door, that they have just entered the former entrance to the Capuchin convent.
Upon the death of Count d'Oroquetti, originally from Malves, the Bishop of Carcassonne decided to give the hermit's estate to a community and found a convent. The Capuchins were chosen.
In 1989, the ground floor was converted into a restaurant. La Légende, directed by Bernard Boutet; Le Ménestrel by Thierry Maillet; and becoming an institution in 2004 with El Campo, owned by Serge and Martine Bérard, who passed the baton to Patrice and Myriam Poy-Marti in 2017.
We had to do it, and we did it!
A wonderful discovery in terms of a restaurant. This pizzeria with its old-fashioned charm will remind you of the old trattoria of our childhood.
Old-fashioned yet friendly, the welcome is friendly and professional, and you are greeted by a young, dynamic, and very efficient team. The food is good and flavorful, with a short but effective wine list.
The value for money is appreciable and makes you want to repeat the experience.

When you come to Trèbes, this is a must-visit. They make amazing pizzas, and the calzone is simply incredible. They also serve tapas, escalopes, and delicious desserts. The service is fantastic. The place is lovely; inside it's cozy with a fireplace, and outside there's a terrace that I love for summer dinners or just enjoying an aperitif.
