A small shop brimming with sweet little temptations. If you're in the area, you simply have to pop in and see what catches your eye. We regret not trying the macarons. The canelés, however, are exactly to our taste.

The seller wrote that this was the place where macarons were first made. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. They were similar to almond cookies, but couldn't compare to ours. We could have skipped them altogether. A pack of six cost 5 euros.

We had no idea that the first macaron was created in Saint Emilion so of course we had to try it! We also got the chocolate marshmallow bonbon (though it was called something else of course) which was good but you can definitely share it between two people or skip it. The macaron is just the cookie portion and no crème and one flavor: almond! Which happens to be my favorite flavor! Awesome to try a piece of history

10/10 macarons, handmade and natural ingredients in comparison with the most common macarons. A must in Saint-Emilion or in the Bordeaux region. Worth it to give a try and bring a box back home along the wine bottles you have purchased. Shop is open daily, no excuses!

actually delicious! palmieres were toasty and the chocolates were actually very magnificent. this by not being a chocolatier place had a truffle and I think it was like a crispy little praline chocolate treats and it was just delicious. unexpected definitely come here for sure

08/05/2026: We had a wonderful time, both the food and the service were excellent. Everything was delicious, from the flank steak to the duck breast with its (delicious) foie gras sauce, and the desserts were simply divine. Thank you to Fabrice for the service; it was a truly excellent experience!

Hostellerie De Plaisance Restaurant

02/05/2026: I didn't stay overnight, but I enjoyed the magnificent terrace with a nice glass of white Bordeaux. A top-quality vintage for 9 euros and a breathtaking view.
08/03/2026: Fantastic experience. Stayed three nights in April. We were in the Pavie room. Big room with large windows opening up over the terrace. The breakfast/bar room was great with croissants and bread and each morning a different homemade cake. The entire staff was so friendly and helpful from the bartenders and breakfast staff to the front desk who arranged bike rentals to wine tastings and the underground tour. Also ate at the restaurant one night. A little on the pricey side but each course was better than the last. From the soup to the dessert.
