A wonderful discovery this lunchtime at Auberge du Cantou! 😊 We were looking for a traditional place with homemade food, and we found exactly what we were looking for. We had a truly excellent meal, with simple, authentic, and delicious dishes. The atmosphere is very family-friendly and welcoming. Children can run around, go see the ducks, and enjoy the outdoors, which allows parents to have a much more relaxed meal. A real plus for families! 🦆 The owners and waitresses are incredibly kind and attentive. We were particularly greeted by a lovely young waitress who was very sweet and caring. We recommend this place 100%, without hesitation! A great place to discover if you're in the area. ❤️

I first went to La Ferme Auberge du Cantou about ten years ago and absolutely fell in love with it—the food back then was extraordinary. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I even learned to replicate one of their signature dishes at home: the cooked duck breast (magret cuit). ​Returning recently (August 2026), a visit here was right at the top of my Dordogne itinerary. Nostalgia can play tricks on us, and I realize I had put this family-run spot on a pedestal over the years. Don't get me wrong: the food is still good, featuring great local produce and warm, classic French-style service—it just didn't quite match the legendary status in my memory. ​The magret, a dish I devoutly remembered, was good, but not mind-blowing. It was a generous, flavorful portion of duck, but a bit lacking in tenderness and juiciness—though perhaps I've simply gotten used to the way I prepare it at home! In their defense, it was a scorching summer day, which isn't the ideal weather for a rich duck meal, so the heat may have played a part. ​At its core, this remains a wonderful, honest family restaurant set on a duck farm in the heart of Dordogne. If you are in the area and love duck, it is definitely worth a visit. The prices are fair and the quality is genuine. During peak season, reservations are highly recommended.

Beautiful terrace and warm welcome, however disappointed with the dishes with a duck breast which is cooked in a scalded pan and does not have the flavor of the duck breast I wanted to eat because the meat was confit and stringy.
