Grand Hotel Negre Coste sur Aix-En-Provence

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. We were welcomed by a very friendly and welcoming reception team, including Camille and Florette. The hotel is right in the center. We will gladly return!

An exquisite interlude at the Negrecoste Hotel in Aix-en-Provence for a successful stay; everything is in place for a very pleasant time: attentive staff (without exception! The entire staff is lovely, and I especially thank Camille and Thaïs), very comfortable rooms, elegant decor and furnishings, impeccable cleanliness, an ideal location for strolling around Aix, and extremely convenient parking. I highly recommend it and return every year with pleasure!

Business reservation for Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The day before, someone called to tell me that the elevator, being in a pedestrian zone, was out of order. I explained that I needed a maximum of one room on the first floor (I had a large suitcase, a laptop, and a briefcase). On the day of arrival, it was very difficult to get there by car, as the hotel was in a pedestrian zone...after numerous mishaps (parking meters that wouldn't lower, a broken remote key fob, the hotel phone constantly busy...) I finally arrived at the hotel parking lot (€30 per night!). At reception, a young woman, alone despite the ringing of all the other phones, and I wasn't the only one in trouble...she told me I had a room on the 4th floor with a broken elevator. This is too much! I demand a refund and will go elsewhere! The young receptionist, Thaïs, always working alone, went above and beyond, swapping rooms so I was finally on the first floor, and even upgraded me to make up for the inconvenience. I learned the next day that she was an intern, but she was more professional than many of the staff, juggling all the tools at her disposal. The hotel owner should really consider having an intern alone at reception during a busy period! Thank you to Thaïs, who saved my stay. The next day, when I left, they even gave me free parking.

We enjoyed a session at the hotel spa. The space is limited to four people, but since there were three of us, we were lucky enough to have the entire area to ourselves. Although small, the spa offers an intimate experience with everything you need to relax: sauna, steam room, pool/jacuzzi, multi-jet shower, and hot/cold shower. We had a very pleasant time! Just one or two small armchairs to sit in would make the spa area even better.

The hotel is very well located, but access is complicated without a parking reservation. The receptionist was perfect, attentive and professional; thank you for your help in the evening and upon our departure, and for your advice during our stay in Aix. The breakfast waiter was lovely and very personable; it was a nice experience. The spa is very nice, but there's a lack of information and advice. The small space really should be limited to two people per hour and a half to avoid four people being crammed into it. Worth seeing. Oh, and remember to bring blackout curtains for the night. 😉

Hôtel Negrecoste Excellent location, right in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, right on Rue Mirabeau. Ideal for getting around on foot. Be warned: you can't drive to the hotel, and there are very few indoor parking spaces, so it's best to check availability when booking. We stayed in two suites. Our arrival wasn't the best: a musty smell, excessive heat, a burned-out central light, a dead air conditioning remote control, and a jammed window. A very positive note was given to the front desk, which was quick, efficient, and extremely helpful in resolving any issues. Unfortunately, and it's a shame because the hotel is lovely, maintenance and cleanliness are subpar. The rooms are poorly renovated: used bathrobes are taken away but not replaced, vanity kits and shower caps are not replaced, and toilet paper is out and not replenished. The cleanliness of the common areas also leaves much to be desired (the elevator windows are a poor sign). The bar/restaurant, on the other hand, is very pleasant, overlooking the main street and bathed in sunlight: perfect for an outdoor lunch or aperitif, even in winter. On the downside, breakfast is served in the cold! So, bring a jacket or coat. In conclusion, this hotel is rated 4 stars, but despite its extraordinary location and historic charm, it doesn't seem to fully meet all the standards expected of this category. With greater attention to maintenance and attention to detail, it could truly reach its full potential.

The hotel has a great location in the center of Aix-en-Provence, although because of that, even after receiving a room that was supposed to be sheltered from street noise, I could still hear various sounds. What made sleeping especially difficult were the noises coming from other rooms, as the walls seem to be paper-thin, and the constant door slamming was quite disruptive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant downstairs. It’s decent, but extremely loud and chaotic, as people from the street also come in to eat there, which makes the atmosphere far from relaxing. Parking is available, but you need to provide your license plate number in advance, otherwise access can be complicated. The spa is modest but fine, and costs an additional €30. However, even though the hotel advertises it as a one-hour private reservation with full privacy, it turned out that another couple was inside at the same time, which was disappointing and not what was promised.

The room was very clean, the staff very welcoming, and the hotel very well located. We were delighted with our night at the Negrescote.
