Grill Courtepaille sur Saint-Jean-De-Braye

We've been coming to Courte Paille Saint Jean de Braye for almost 10 years and the welcome is always so warm. We're never disappointed by the food. The friendly staff always makes us want to come back. 😊

New Year's Eve at this Courtepaille was fantastic, the staff and atmosphere were top-notch... It was a lovely touch to be greeted with a Happy New Year by all the staff. Well done!

A very pleasant restaurant, the food is excellent. The smell of the fireplace is pure bliss. We'll be back very soon.

We came to eat lunch on Sunday without a reservation. The restaurant was almost full. The gentleman in red came to greet us kindly and asked if we had a reservation. When we replied that we hadn't, he still managed to find us a table, explaining kindly that there would be a bit of a wait, no worries. We ordered a starter; I recommend the terrine, very good value for money and appetizing. We had our main course 20 minutes later, which seems reasonable given the number of customers. Everything went well. A lady in the restaurant kept complaining about everyone, speaking rudely to the waitresses, and even said that the young man who was cooking the meats was useless. The two people accompanying him told him to speak more quietly; in short, we acted as if nothing was happening, even though this woman continued to complain about everything. Imagine my surprise when he got up to pay and started yelling at the man who was in charge of the cooking. He was at the till, presumably helping his colleague, and he spoke rudely to him, raising his voice. We don't know why, but the young man remained polite, only raising his voice when the woman apologized for the language and said, "SHUT YOUR MOUTH, I'LL GET YOU FIRED!" I repeat her words. The young man sent them away, telling them not to come back and that next time he would file a complaint (if you need a witness, you can contact me). We arrived to pay after this incident. The young man apologized for the scene. He made my wife feel sorry for him; she had the impression he was going to cry, but he remained professional and apologized for the scene, as he put it. Sorry for the long message, I just wanted to support this restaurant, but especially this young man who I hope won't have any problems with management and that those people who came to eat here won't be back, especially given their behavior. Thanks again to the team.

A loyal customer until the Courtepaille restaurant closed for liquidation, today, Saturday, February 19, 2026, I had the opportunity to visit the Saint Jean de Braye location. I appreciated the professionalism of our waitress, even though the restaurant was full. The service was a little slow due to the crowd, but I have no complaints. Our dishes—country sausage and minced steak—were perfect.

Everything is impeccable, from the service to the quality of the food; the head waiter is very attentive, a truly enjoyable experience at the Courte Paille restaurant in Saint-Jean-de-Bray.

My favorite restaurant, especially the atmosphere

What a shame to receive such a pitiful welcome, a shame we've lost our previous patrons who made us want to come back with their wonderful hospitality. We always went to the restaurant for family meals and other occasions, but now we know we won't be returning. When you see that they speak to us so aggressively over a carafe of water (probably because we were disturbing Mr. [name omitted] with his cell phone behind the grill), all our elderly mother needed was water and the wait for her order was too long for her. At this rate, you'll have everyone running around. It's a shame because the food was good, except for the appetizers, where the mojito was pathetic. RIP Stéphane 🙏 Thank you to Étienne for all the happiness he brought us in the past. 🙏
