I'd wanted to try the Hippopotamus in Rueil-Malmaison for a long time, and I finally did on a Sunday evening. What can I say about the floor? It was a complete disaster, with many missing wooden planks hidden under rugs. The dishes were fresh and tasty, but not very generous. The dessert was a bit of a letdown, but quickly rectified. The waitstaff was excellent, always smiling and taking the time to check on us. A few small things to improve: they should use paper straws in all the cocktails, offer larger portions, and perhaps even implement the Hippopotamus loyalty program.

One of the best Hippopotamus restaurants in the Île-de-France region in my opinion. The portions are generous and everything is very fresh. Élodie is so kind, thank you so much, because every time I come everything is perfect, it's a pleasure to come back 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊 The restaurant is clean and the large bay window is a great bonus, especially since there aren't many restaurants open every day in Rueil.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff. We ordered a pepper steak and fries, cooked to perfection and quite tasty. The fries were frozen but still decent, and the dish was piping hot. We also had a burger and fries, which was also good and hot. For dessert, we chose the Dame Blanche (vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce) and a gourmet tea. The desserts were generally a bit too sweet and not particularly sophisticated, but overall, they were still enjoyable. It's a shame the restaurant could use a good refresh, but overall, we were satisfied with our meal.

I had a wonderful meal from start to finish. The appetizers were excellent; I loved the ravioli with Comté cheese. The main courses were hearty and delicious, the ingredients were fresh, and the portions were generous. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the service was quick. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The price was reasonable.

04/03/2026: I had a warm goat cheese salad for lunch and was disappointed by the variety of ingredients and the quality of the produce. A homemade vinaigrette would have been much better than the industrial white dressing, good bread would have been a welcome replacement for the cheap sliced ​​bread, and a few fresh herbs would have improved the lack of seasoning (there was no salt or pepper on the table). The chairs on the terrace were particularly uncomfortable. Aside from that, the service was excellent.

06/03/2026: What a disappointment this time. Last August, we thoroughly enjoyed the tagine and couscous with kebabs. We went back in February, again for lunch, and what a letdown! The couscous with kebabs was nothing like the previous meal. The meat had been excessively sprinkled with spices; we were searching for the taste of lamb, to the point that, upon closer inspection, we discovered the spices were masking meat that had already gone off. It's a shame; I'm not sure I'll be going back.
