And then there is Hollymelt. After eating burgers at considerably more expensive places around Marseille, we discovered that some of the best were basically on our street. Around €11–12. Self-service. No ceremony. And absolutely banging. The burgers are generous, full of flavour and properly satisfying. Both the beef and chicken options are excellent, the fries are great, the sauces actually add something, and everything feels like it has been made by people who understand exactly what this kind of food should be. No luxury terrace. No €30 price tag. No unnecessary performance. Just a seriously good burger. There is something I increasingly appreciate about places that know exactly what they are and simply do it well. Hollymelt doesn’t need to dress itself up as anything else. The quality is on the plate. For us, one of the best burger discoveries in Marseille and extraordinary value for money. Sometimes the simplest places completely outperform the grand ones.

I discovered this restaurant a few years ago, and at the time, it was definitely one of the best smash burgers I'd ever had. It's been about three years since I moved to the area, but I have very fond memories of the place. The only slight drawback back then was the price, which I found a bit high. But despite that, the quality was excellent, and it remained a place I recommended. So it's a shame to see that, apparently, the quality has declined in recent months. I really hope the restaurant will get back to its former level, because it's a shame to lose a place that offered such high-quality food and truly excellent burgers.

I've never eaten such a good burger... From now on, every time I eat a burger, I'll rate it on the Holymelt scale.
