La Chaloupe sur Honfleur

A very family-friendly atmosphere in the unique setting of Honfleur's Old Port: a consistently warm welcome, a very smiley owner who takes excellent care of all his customers. The food is superb: fresh produce, the scallops practically straight from the boat, delicious, but above all, try the seafood stew with rock crab sauce, garnished with mussels, shrimp, various fish, and langoustines. We came for dinner and ordered the savory crepe with a bowl of cider for €15.90: no complaints, it was perfectly fine. We also tried the €32 set menu (6 oysters, grilled prawns with rice and vegetables, chocolate fondant). The oysters were good, as was the dessert. However, we were very disappointed with the main course: only three small prawns on the plate, a little rice, and very few vegetables… a really small portion for the price. On the other hand, the service was excellent! The two waitresses were very welcoming, smiling, and attentive. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere and the very pleasant heated terrace. So, a mixed review, mainly due to the value for money of the €32 set menu, but a definite plus for the welcome and the setting.

The dish was bland and meager. The garnish was lukewarm to cold. The apple and cheese dish had no apples… in short, we should have checked the reviews before going in.

We came last night with a two-month-old baby whose carrycot takes up a lot of space. We were given a very warm welcome. The managers were lovely to us and helped us settle in. I recommend this establishment for the kindness of the staff and also the food because we really enjoyed it.

Came this evening, well advised for the wine, decent menu, good food, served with kindness and good conversation with the lady.
