La Ferme de Cornadel sur Generargues

We ate at the Ferme de Cornadel on Thursday evening for a birthday and it was very good. I have read the review regarding lack of taste and the fire and don't understand their comments. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see the fire as its been so cold for a few days. We were sat directly in front of the fire and sure you can smell it but at no point were we in any discomfort. For the taste and selection we were very happy with what we ordered, all the dishes were delicious and well cooked, I'm a chef myself and thought the food was well presented and good quality. The fondant au chocolat though needs attention as it was cold and not melting in the middle, despite me specially asking and being assured it was. However, that seems common these days and the art of cooking to order seems lost. It did taste very nice though but not a fondant au chocolat, more a gâteauauchocolat! One exception was that one of our party is gluten intolerant and the choice was very poor and needs both expanding and also clearing marking, unfortunately she didn't each much and even after ordering gluten free something in the desert (crème brûlée) reacted with her and she had some discomfort. Switching simply to wheat, barley and rye alternatives in the preparation would solve this! Don't let the negatives put you off though, it's a lovely place with very good food and well worth visiting. We will definitely return.
