La Gargouille sur Barjac

Magnificent building. Beautiful garden with both sun and shade. A small pool with clear water for a refreshing dip. Excellent interior. Tamara and Bruno are very welcoming and professional hosts.

A hidden gem! Those lucky enough to stay at the Maison d’hôtes Gourguille will experience hospitality at its finest. The house sits right at the edge of the old town and offers a breathtaking view over the surrounding landscape – a sight that stays with you long after you leave. The three guest rooms have been renovated and furnished with great taste and an extraordinary attention to detail, each dedicated to its own distinct theme. We stayed in the Chinese-inspired room and felt at home from the very first moment – the atmosphere is coherent, warm, and anything but contrived. What truly sets this place apart, however, are the hosts. Attentive, helpful, and possessed of a genuine warmth that is increasingly rare – this is not polished professional courtesy, but real, heartfelt hospitality. Dinner on the beautiful terrace was an experience in itself: a multi-course meal built around outstanding local produce, prepared with real culinary craft and evident passion. Breakfast – served at the table as a matter of course, with homemade ingredients – brought the stay to an equally memorable close. In short: a place you won’t forget, and one you’ll be glad to return to.

Too short a stay unfortunately, we'll be back for a longer stay! The Canton Suite was superb (the bathroom was superb too), the hosts were lovely, and dinner was fantastic (roasted asparagus and pigeon!). Thank you both, and see you as soon as possible, Franck and Caroline

This bed and breakfast deserves nothing but superlatives. A wonderful suite, a table d'hôtes on par with a Michelin-starred restaurant, and a warm welcome. We will be back!

A far too short stay for such a delightful place where Tamara and Bruno welcomed us with kindness, elegance, and simplicity. The decor of the house and rooms is exquisite, and a most serene atmosphere pervades the place. Breakfast and meals were exquisite. We savored these pleasures and hope to return. We loved staying at La Gourguille: the house is magnificent, right in the village, the suites are very spacious (in August we were in the Venice suite and in April in the St. Louis suite) and so beautifully decorated, a true escape in itself. We enjoyed the set menu both evenings: Bruno is an exceptional cook!! And yet my husband is very picky. Bruno and Tamara's welcome is very warm, the breakfasts are a delight... we can no longer imagine going to the Barjac flea market without staying at La Gourguille. We highly recommend it.

We had a very pleasant stay in a charming and stately setting. The furnishings were more than perfect in a tastefully restored space. Bruno and his wife gave us a very warm, even friendly, welcome. I was able to enjoy playing the piano in the living room. The Chinese suite is stunning. The breakfast was original, generous, and simply delicious. We will certainly return with pleasure, and we wholeheartedly recommend this establishment, located in a beautiful area between southern Ardèche and northern Gard. Jean-François and Christine
