La Grolle sur La Clusaz

Everything was delicious, even the little cake that came with the ice cream. The service was very warm and attentive despite the February holiday rush. We'll be back.

As we did a year ago, my friends and I enjoyed returning. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the food was very good, and the setting was lovely.

We've been coming to this restaurant for several years, but this will be the last time. My husband and I ordered a tartiflette. To our great surprise, the tartiflette arrived in a dish meant for two that was barely bigger than the one the lady next to us had, who had a tartiflette all to herself. The price, however, was indeed charged for two, even though we were left hungry! The children's menu is also worse than it used to be. The included dessert crepe used to be generously filled with whipped cream and chocolate, whereas now it's just a simple sugar crepe. Another option was a single (small) scoop of ice cream, while other restaurants in La Clusaz offer two scoops for the same price. And don't even get me started on the uncomfortable wooden chairs. Our backs ached terribly. There wasn't even enough legroom.

We learned the story of the Savoyard Grolle: it originated with shepherds. To combat the cold when they climbed to the mountain pastures, they would pour this mixture into one of their wooden clogs. In the local dialect, a shoe is called a "grolle"... The clog gave way to a more elaborate container, with a shape more practical for drinking and multiple spouts to facilitate sharing with friends, but the name remained the same: the grolle! We loved the Haute-Savoie atmosphere of this family-run restaurant. The welcome was warm and the food delicious. The fondue is truly unique, but we highly recommend the beef pavé. Everything was accompanied by local wine. Don't hesitate to try the desserts—the blueberry tart, the marmot, or the gourmet coffee. We're looking forward to our next vacation to return to Annecy and La Grolle.

The staff were lovely and the fondue was excellent. I spilled my glass of wine and they offered me another without even asking. So kind!

This restaurant, with its excellent food, is well worth taking off your skis to warm up and enjoy a delicious meal. Special mention for the Savoyard escalope, which is truly a treat! I'll definitely be back!

A very good restaurant with typical dishes, but not only. The Christmas menu is excellent. The service is attentive, efficient, and friendly.

A very warm welcome and quick service. We had a lovely time. They even opened a bottle of génépi at the end of our meal to make up for a small mistake with the dishes 😊
