La Grotte & l’Olivier is truly something special. The setting alone is unforgettable—built right into the rock, it feels like dining in a hidden gem carved by nature itself. The location creates such a unique atmosphere that elevates the whole experience.
The food was delicious, thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor, making it easy to just sit back and enjoy every moment. And the staff? Absolutely outstanding—attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. A solid 10/10 for service.
If you’re looking for a place that combines great food with an incredible, one-of-a-kind setting, this is it. Highly recommended.

Loved the food! The place has a fantastic view. Really enjoyed it! A must if you come to mentón. Waiters do speak other languages and they are super cool and friendly

We found the prices far too high for our meals for four people. The asparagus tartlet was €22 (under the salad and asparagus, a bare tart base). The main courses were €29 for raw sea bass and €28 for cooked. The food was decent, but nothing justifies these prices for a lunchtime dish. €25 for beef tartare and fries that were far from homemade... The ingredients were fresh. The pizzas are undoubtedly more generous and reasonably priced. We had lunch on the terrace. Pleasant. The service was perfect.

There were five of us.
Positive points:
All the starters were very good,
the fregola risotto was also excellent,
the beef fillet was a little overcooked, but we still liked it.
The service was friendly.
Negative points:
We had to wait a long time for our main courses.
And the biggest disappointment: the four-cheese pizza. It was anything but a four-cheese pizza. Lots of tomato and only one cheese, maybe two at most, one of which was of dubious quality and didn't even melt. I only managed to eat half of it (look at the photo; as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words).
The television mounted opposite me was constantly distracting. Sit with your back to it.

Excellent food, perfect service—everything was in place for a great time until the bill arrived.
€5.50 for a bottle of filtered water stamped with the restaurant's name (if it had been Evian, we would have known it would be extra)... In short, the unpleasant feeling of having been ripped off.
€5.50 per liter... unbelievable!
Personally, I won't be going back.
