La Manufacture sur Bayeux

11/07/2024: Great and reasonably priced restaurant in the charming old city of Bayeux, with dishes cooked and served to perfection, a great selection of French wines and attractive and attractively prized menu options. My only complaint relates to the level of service. There might be cultural, linguistic or even generational barriers here, but to me, it is nothing less than natural that if you start with an aperitif before dinner there is (at least the possibly of) more drinks/wine to come. After the appetizer and first course all plates were removed in a rush, while the empty glasses were left on the table. Only when the main course was served we managed to make clear that we wanted to have a look at the wine list to order a bottle. The wine list was brought immediately. After choosing a bottle, it took us again a while to make clear we wanted to order a bottle, but after we did it was served almost instantaneously. But in the overall flow of the evening this was only a minor detail. I would (and did already) recommend this place and would go here again.

12/06/2024: A wonderful little city in Normandy with an extraordinary cathedral. Sadly we could not go inside since various heads of state were about to be received and no doubt security checks were in place. Much of the old appears to have survived Occupation and the city is a delight to wander around
