La Matelote sur Belleville

First experience at the Matelote restaurant, warm welcome and very good food, you eat for your money (personally) we were very well served with different dishes for 3 and generous portions for all. We will return on our next visits to Belleville en Beaujolais.

We received a very warm welcome upon arrival at this restaurant. The staff were very professional, pleasant, and attentive to our needs. There were three of us. I highly recommend it!

We ate at La Matelote today and were served by Océane. A big thank you to her for her professionalism; she is very pleasant and was very attentive to our son, who really enjoyed her, and so did we.

We ate at this restaurant a few months ago, and I thought to myself: the chef must have summoned the seven crystal balls and asked Shenron to be an excellent cook for the day! But no, he must have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth! On Saturday, we returned for my parents' diamond wedding anniversary, a table of 14 French and Italian gourmets... and it was delicious once again. I'll only talk about my meal. I tried the octopus and prawn salad, a dish I've loved since my honeymoon in Italy, and unlike the restaurants where I've ordered this dish in France... it was good, really good. Finally, a chef who knows how to cook octopus. Thank you, Chef. Then came the fried food, nothing to complain about, and the gratin dauphinois, which took me right back to my childhood. Next, half a Saint-Marcellin cheese, perfectly runny. And the dessert: to die for! The only slight drawback was the coffee, which lacked strength. The staff were fantastic and not at all annoying like in many restaurants. To conclude, I'll simply say a sincere THANK YOU, and see you again!

An excellent lunchtime set menu including a starter (charcuterie platter), main course (pork loin with mashed potatoes), strawberry soup, coffee, and a complimentary glass of wine for €18. All the dishes were delicious and generously portioned. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff were very friendly. Unbeatable value for money in the area. No wonder so many office workers frequent this establishment.
